Club News
Our school youth program has grown to include schools from across
Minnesota. Many schools around the state now include trapshooting as a sport
students can earn a letter in. That was one of the goals of the Plymouth Gun
Club Board of Directors back in 2001.
What started as a youth program has evolved into the Minnesota State High School
Clay Target League (MSHSCTL).
It has become a reality. The governing body of this school sport in Minnesota is
the Minnesota State High School Clay Target League. The MSHSCTL is incorporated
as a 501 C 3 non-profit organization. As with other high school sports there is
a high school trapshooting tournament. Last year the tournament was held at the
Minneapolis Gun Club in mid-June and 243 student athletes competed.
By visiting the MSHSCTL website at
www.mnclaytarget.com
you’ll be able to learn more about the state tournament and the MSHSCTL. A
special thanks to the Minnesota Trapshooters Association for providing the
trophies, medallions and paying for all of the targets the students shot at.
Minneapolis Gun Club provided a free lunch to the student athletes. Between the
students, coaches and families of the students, the Minneapolis Gun Club
prepared and served over 700 hamburgers
In 2011 Thirty school districts across the State of Minnesota will participate
in this virtual league.
The season will culminate on the weekend of June 11 & 12 where hundreds of
students will compete at the Minneapolis Gun Club.
Trophies and targets will be generously provided by the MTA thanks to Mark
Zauhar.
Pretty cool!
